It's a great way to be able to draw when you can't really draw like that . . . as long as you CAN color with colored pencils or dab with chalks or whatnot. So many stampers stick to "cute" (you know, bears like on the Cottonelle ads that hug each other, and bunnies bearing baskets of Easter eggs), but there's much more out there for artists--um, or would-be artists like me!

My goodness! Some fine stuff there. I have a quick question: is the cartoon with the lady on the scale complete unto itself, or created by artistically placing vaious elements together to make something all set for a punch line?

The woman on the scale and the dog are all one stamp. The claw-footed tub, potty and toilet paper, sink, and rug are all separate stamps that you can group together or use separately--those are by Art Impressions. They do a lot of scenic stamps with furniture and such. It's fun to figure out what you can do with pre-drawn things. Of course the lines for the walls and floor and various details are hand-done. And the lettering on that one is from the computer, printed on a clear sticker, and cut out and stuck on.

My artistic/creative drive has to come out SOMEWHERE when I don't feel like writing (it's a "what's the use" thing). My mother used to use hers in cooking and decorating the house for the holidays--from Halloween to Christmas to Easter to Summertime. I need to pull out all my Fall/Halloween stuff while it's raining and windy outside. Maybe I'll feel like changing out all the tablecloths and tabletop stuff.

We're getting a little wind and some rain, but nothing like the alarmists predicted for Dallas. East Texas might get 10 inches of rain, they said. I'm afraid that what with all the hoo-ha about evacuating for the last two that weren't so bad, people will decide not to pack up and to ride the next one out, and $$ to doughnuts THAT one will turn out to be a cat 5. Austin is afraid that their evacuees (the ones who were homeless and in shelters) will decide to stay. . . .

That's amazing. I can see a use for such a technique in MUKO. Create your picture/cartoon/whatever on paper, scan it, and there it is, ready to go in Esperantujo's most-trusted online newspaper.

No surprise that your Taurus mother turned to cooking. And I understand the sheer frustration you're trying to cope with re: getting published, and how it makes you turn to other artistic projects. That ain't a bad thing, because though what applies to one of the arts applies to all of the arts is true, they're all different and from their diversity you develop useful strengths that show up, for example, in music or novel-writing, in subtle and surprising ways. (Besides, those art stamp pictures are cool!)
