Just a quick update to let everyone know that Patty is finally out of recovery and in her room. Whew! We heard NOTHING until 5 PM (she went in around 12:45). Her hubby just didn't bother to call us. I was really getting nervous around 4. We finally dug up a home number for her daughter's mother-in-law (when the various cell phones we had went to "not a working number" and her number didn't answer) and got my aunt connected up with her daughter, who said the surgery took five hours (!) and went fine. Good grief, but okay. Then they said they'd call us when she got to her room. Apparently, they took some time getting her up there! I hate being out of the loop. And I'm astonished to discover that out of the phone numbers we had for my cousin's husband (cell), daughter #1 (cell), daughter #2 (cell), and brother (cell), not a ONE of those was correct and/or working. I realize people change plans, but hey, it hasn't been that long since I got all those numbers. We are seriously out of touch. My poor aunt . . . she's 81 and sat there fretting ALL DAY about her daughter when her son-in-law should have been calling her on her cell to update. Yep, he has HER number. He's just a jackass! NO grin. He's getting coal in his Christmas stocking as far as I am concerned. I didn't even know the name of the hospital (I thought my aunt would, but she didn't--it is a hospital in Denton, not the one in Sherman where they all live, so that made it tougher.) Next time, I won't rely on my 75-year-old mom and my 81-yr-old aunt to remember these things *sheepish grin* Minor little details, indeed.

But anyhow, whew. We're exhausted from busying ourselves with chores like washing clothes, vacuuming, boiling potatoes (!), taking the dog for a walk, and so forth. Maybe I burned off some calories, at least. I even thought up a new book plot, but it isn't an "action" plot, so I don't really want to get started on it.

We really appreciate everyone who emailed or commented to say they were sending positive vibes. I firmly believe they're the reason that we always have such good results in times of crisis. Thanks again!
