Looking Back at 2005. . .

We didn't die. We didn't have any life-threatening diseases. We hung on to our worldly status, for the most part. Nobody else came to live with us. *grin*

I started sending out queries and partials, and am still waiting to hear back from two agents I feel are very promising and from one contest that just might be the one this year.

There were too many hurricanes and weird weather events.

The dog pretty much learned to go tinkles outdoors instead of indoors.

In 2006:

I'm going to get rid of that stinky family room carpeting if I have to rip it off the concrete slab with my own two hands (wearing a dust mask) and live on the bare concrete.

I'm going to publish a novel. (Visualize this, and whirled peas.)

In Order to Achieve Goals, One Must Have a Plan.

A Reasonable Plan.

I'm sure I'll come up with one Real Soon Now.

In depressing news: North Texas is on fire. Fires are burning perilously close to the D/FW metroplex. We're getting the stink and smoke and ashes-in-sky from the fires in Eastland/Cross Bend and even closer in than that. Oklahoma City is burning. Meanwhile, California is washing away. Send some of that rain here! Balance must be restored.

Got the sprinkler system programmed to come on in a couple of hours, just in case. They told us that'd help . . . and we believe what the TV tells us, don't we?

There is a "lie" in *believe*.

But it was 86 degrees today just south of here. Weird! We had a 77-degree perfect day. I cleaned house, ran a couple of errands, wrote, and cooked. We had the traditional black-eyed peas and tamales for good luck. Secretly planned to have the piano tuner out as soon as hubby goes back to work, because the entire bass register has gone sour (it's the swings in temperature and humidity doing it, and it didn't help that I opened the front door and left the screen door closed so that we got blow-through breezes for the past few days--that made the strings sag or whatever, but I had to do it because the husband built himself a new computer out of parts, and the dang thing suffocated us with burn-in stink for the past few days. I hate that smell. Gives me a runny nose and sore throat, made Mama go into spasmodic coughing, and even the Pomeranian has sneezed and choked on mucus because of the outgassing. Ick!) Also need to have the yard guys out once more for a winter clean-up, because even MORE leaves have blown all over and we need them to fix up the hedge. Houses truly are Money Pits.
